This is my first LCD tv. I spent a lot of time looking at them in stores, reading reviews & finally decided that Samsung would provide me the best value for my money. I purchased this 26″ for my bedroom & it’s the perfect size. I was a little nervous setting it up but it was so simple. From attaching the stand, hooking it up & setting up the menu options. The picture is amazing! The colors are wonderful, the blacks are not washed out at all but appear rich & dark. There are a number of setting options to achieve the perfect picture for you, including adjusting the backlight. The sound is good, for a bedroom tv I’m not looking for a movie theater experience & quite frankly, I wouldn’t expect tv speakers to ever give me that. I would expect to buy separate speakers. The sound is just as good, if not better, then any past tv I have owned. I have a computer desk off to the side & often glance over at the tv and can view the screen just fine from side angles. There’s also a sleep timer for turning both off & on. I’ve watched everything from movies to sports to regular shows. Also, for anyone nervous about getting this tv without HD, it’s looks incredible even without the HD! There are tons of connections on this model too, including 3 HDMI (2 in the back & one on the side). There is a PC connection too but I haven’t tried that or the game mode. I can’t find a single negative thing to say & as a plus, the tv itself has a very classy sharp appearance. Very, very happy!

I just bought this TV for my bedroom. It is the perfect TV for that. It isn’t too big that it overpowers the room, and isn’t too small either. I know some people complain about the audio. I think it sounds just fine. I wouldn’t have even thought about it. Like I said, it is in my bedroom and not meant to be a home theater TV. If you were looking for a home theater TV, get something bigger, and get external sound.

I have FIOS HD TV hooked up and an upconverting DVD player via HDMI ports. The picture looks great right out of the box. I set it to “movie” setting since I leave the room darker. The “dynamic” setting is too bright, but might be ok in a very bright room. The “standard” picture is fine. I highly recommend this TV if you are using the HDMI inputs. The picture leaves something to be desired if you are using the coax input or RCA inputs. Quite honestly, stick to a good old fashioned CRT if you are using analogue connections.

I compared this TV to several others, I couldn’t tell the difference in picture quality between it and ones priced up to $300 more. I don’t think 1080P is worth the extra money for a 26″ TV. Watching fast action like a hockey game, there can be some motion issues, but since it is only a 60 Hz TV, that is expected. The 120 Hz would show a slight improvement, but it isn’t bad enough of a distraction to bother me. A lot of people wouldn’t even notice, but some would. Again, it is minor.

I’m very happy with the picture quality in general, as long as it is a digital input, and especially high def. The colors are accurate and the blacks are nice and dark. Dark scenes do not get blurred together, you can see the difference in black levels easily.

If you are looking to spend less than $500 or even $600 for a TV, and you are using digital connections, this is the TV for you.

By the way, Best Buy sells this for $400. Not sure why everyone else has it for more.

This TV has a great picture from the front easily the best in the 26″ market. I searched for a long time and compared it to Sony and LG. I was considering Sony’s new KDL-26L5000 but this Samsung has double the contrast ratio.

Unfortunately the only negative is also the deal killer for me and that is the side viewing angle. I think the Sony did better in this area but not enough to warrant it over this samsung. Ultimately I decided to go with the Samsung LN32B650 for the bedroom over this 26″ Samsung as it has a better vewing angle, info link, 1080P, LAN port, and you can use the USB to actually view things and not just for service/firmware upgrades. Granted the LN32B650 is double the price :)

If you are looking for a LCD for the bedroom or kitchen where you plan to watch it head on and not the side then this is it. If you are insistent on a 26″ TV again, this is the best one out there right now. The fact is, if you want a TV with all the current bells and whistles, 32 inches is the smallest size you can find it in.

The picture is great and the color is fantastic but the sound quality is very annoying. It is very tinny sounding. You would think Samsung would have provided better speakers. I have a 32 inch Samsung that we have in the bedroom and the sound is fine. We use this one in the kitchen/livingroom area and it is watched most of the day by my 3 yr old. The sound ends up driving me nuts after awhile (especially when used with vcr/dvd). I should have bought another 32″ even though it was too big for the area… As for recommending, I would with concessions. It may be okay in smaller rooms where volume doesn’t have to be turned up very loud, or in areas with less use. My cheap old smaller tv that this is replacing had way better sound.

Bought this to replace a Toshiba 26AV502U I bought just 6 months ago. This is a much much nicer set. The Toshiba had a very uneven backlight & horrible blacks. The Samsung is much better on both fronts. While it can’t match my CRT Projector or CRT tube set as far as blacks go, it’s pretty good for a LCD set, especially one that’s CCFL lit. Picture quality is excellent, don’t pay extra for 1080P on a TV this size! Has no problems with an HDMI signal over a 35′ cable. Sound quality is mediocre as other reviewers have pointed out, but I wasn’t expecting more.
