The first thing I would like to point out is that the product image provided by Amazon is the older version of the Speck MacBook Pro Black case. This item is actually the second version, thus the V2 in the product name. I think the newer version is much sleeker than its predecessor and I am very happy with this case. It fits perfectly on my MacBook Pro and definitely improves the overall durability of the computer. I will be taking the laptop with me around campus in my backpack and like the fact that it will be protected from scratches. I recommend this product and am confident it will hold up to a college lifestyle.

After reading the reviews here and double checking the Speck website to order the right case, really happy to get this nice Speck product. Can actually use the laptop resting on your thighs without the hot case heating up the case and your legs now.
Product looks great. Never had a case on my previous 2003 G4 15″ AL but what this case does is allow you to use it more without worrying so much about how you sit it down and where you use it. Does make the notebook feel more safe and substantial. Can’t beat it and got it at a great price.
When this does go out, it will surely attract a lot of attention. I have the red and the logo viewed from the other side does look really good.
This review is for the silver keyed 15.4 Macbook Pro with the V2 second series. (Not for the unibody with black keys.) Went to the Speck website to ensure I did make the right pick.

I looked up reviews before I bought this product, and was skeptical because of what I read, but decided to go with it anyway. I’d read that the screen didn’t open all the way anymore once the case was on, and all this stuff about it overheating…well, it’s all bull. Honestly, I think they must have revamped the product since some of the other reviewers got it, because I had absolutely no trouble with it at all. The case fits like a glove, even though I have a few dents in the side of my computer from dropping it. The screen opens just as much as it did without the cover. And it doesn’t get any toastier on the bottom than usual.
If you’re looking for a cool way to keep your computer from getting scratched, this is definitely the way to go.

This case is great looking and fits perfectly onto a Macbook Pro 15″, with appropriate cutouts for the power cord, USB cables, etc. I like the glossy finish and it really is clear enough that it’s not immediately obvious that you have a hard plastic case over your laptop.
However, I have not been able to remove the top half of the case (the part covering the screen side of the Macbook) because it fits so tightly. This means I have no way of cleaning my computer or the case. Furthermore, while the bottom half is easy to remove, it has a hard and rough plastic edge that digs uncomfortably into my wrists, so I don’t use that half.
Overall, I think the idea of the hard protective case is a good one, but it has not been executed in a way that makes it actually helpful or user-friendly.

This is a great choice for a macbook pro. I travel every week. This case has taken what would’ve been potential dings and scratches and kept my macbook pro looking brand new. I have to take the laptop out to go through security twice a week and the protective shell is more than up to the task. hardly noticeable when in use. And is hardly noticeable on the computer since it is a clear case. Would recommend to anyone with a macbook pro that is planning on using it as a laptop and traveling with it
