The Amazon Kindle, Sony Reader and Iliad on Twin Cities Live

March 21st, 2010 Posted in Kindle

I had an appearance on Twin Cities Live today talking about ereaders. We went over 3 different ereaders that I own, but my collection is actually larger than that. I thought it was fun, and hopefully I was able to present the technology in a way that even a techophobe would understand.

Ahhh… I think I’d be more concerned about my genes being knocked apart if a nuclear detonation went off close enough to damage my reader :)

  3. Benzenering1004 Says:

What if there is a nuclear blast and electro magnetic pulses render all electronic devices useless? :P Actually I would love to have a Kindle, maybe when they come out with Kindle 3 you can send me yours when you upgrade. Hehe.

For the second time, iRex is the manufacturer. The device is the Iliad. You can’t even get that straight and you presume to tell me the price of something I bought and you didn’t. Do you know how stupid you are showing yourself to be?

You were mildly entertaining, but like most stupid people, you are simply boring. So I won’t be answering you again.

As for spelling, you have never made a typo, I’m sure.

Go rent a brain somewhere, even a cheap one will be a big improvement for you.

  5. johnmonk66 Says:

the irex cost 700 bucks, stop telling lies

  6. johnmonk66 Says:

apparently all that reading hasn’t taught you how to spell

  7. Fait2 Says:

I have over 700 new and classic books and all were for free. Enjoy your Kindle, idiot. It’s true, a fool and hos money are soon parted.

  8. Fait2 Says:

Yes, a $270 Kindle tis expensive when you can buy a netbook for $300 that does far more and doesn’t tie you to overpriced ebooks. I never said they should sell for 10 cents, that’s your ignorance speaking. And if you think Amazon only makes 35 cents on an ebook, you’re either a fool, a liar, or both.

BTW, I did not spend $700 on a Iliad (not an iRex, that’s the company) So you’re off on another erroneous flight of fancy.

  9. johnmonk66 Says:

You spent 700 for an Irex and complain the 270 dollar kindle is expensive? That doesn’t make sense. Their price for downloading ebooks is criminal??? Go write a book and sell it for 10 cents, see how many books you would write. The author has his right to make money, and amazon makes about 35 cents for every ebook it sells.

  10. johnmonk66 Says:

completely wrong, that is only the price of new releases. you can’t get new releases at library sales. I have put a hundred classics on my kindle for about 12 dollars.

  11. Fait2 Says:

Irex is a company in Holland that makes the Iliad. The Kindle is far from the best ebook reader and Amazon has terrible customer service, charges far too much for the Kindle, and their prices for downloading ebooks are criminal. I would never buy any ebook reader knowing what I know after owning two of them. A netbook or tablet PC is a far better but, more useful and cheaper, too.

  12. Benzenering1004 Says:

    1500 books at $10 a piece..you do the math.

  13. johnmonk66 Says:

I carry 1500 books in my bag, how many 50 cent books can you carry?

  14. johnmonk66 Says:

lol, who is irex? kindle is the best of the bunch, best storage, best wirelss downloading, best customer service

  15. sajeev86 Says:

Tech guy is completely ignoring the woman.

  16. Fait2 Says:

After less than 6 months, my Iliad began to fail. It will jump 15 to 20 pages at a time, no longer connect to my PC and the battery life is down to 5 hours from 15 hours.

iRex is stonewalling me about the repairs and ignores my repeated questions. Never buy anything from iRex.

  18. Benzenering1004 Says:

  19. BearBoi69 Says:

    Actually, I do.

Unlike you, who probably watch TCL just to jerk off to a former hermaphrodite. Does that turn you on? Chicks with dicks? You’re freekin’ nasty.

  20. Houseguy2 Says:

You really have no fucking clue what you are talking about.

  21. BearBoi69 Says:

She was born with a penis. Its true. It was really more of a nubbin, because it didn’t have testicles. Not externally, anyway.

  22. quillaja Says:

    I’d hit dat.

  23. quillaja Says:

But plastic cups and e-readers don’t biodegrade. They can’t be made into compost. Most people don’t bother properly recycling their plastic cups or electronic devices.

Furthermore, the maintenance of a book is lower than an e-reader. Also, books can be kept for longer, while the pace of technology and a consumer mentality drives us to create and discard electronic devices at a very environmentally unfriendly pace.

That said, I’m 100% for e-readers, but not for environmental reasons.

  24. Houseguy2 Says:

    Elizabeth has great legs!

  25. v1m Says:

Ah, those Minny-soda accents! Pure Coen Bros:

    “Watcha watchin’, Wade?”

    “Gophers.”
