True… but I like to have less devices in my car. The reason why I bought the app is because my wife has an iphone 3GS as well and we both share the price. Basically if you split the cost… $25 on each phone versus $200+ for two dedicated devices.

@xtrueballerx
its what 60$ now? still not worth it if you ask me, you gotta buy charger, stand, other stuff. You could get a ded for 100$, you dont need to take it out everytime you leave.

Cheers. Ill probs just save up for the iphone lol

@Goob3000: 3g refers to wirelss broadband data connection which no iPod touch currently has. But in answer to your question about iPod touch compatibility, the TomTom DOES support this device, however you must purchase the separate iPod Touch car kit to use it since it does not contain a built in GPS like the iPhone. The information is available on the TomTom website

@bestSVMS It’s half off right now lol… just bought it. It’s awesome and worth it. Now I don’t have to buy a dedicated device.

with this app costing so much, you might as well get a dedicated device. the graphics looks cleaner on the iphone than the dedicated tomtom

March 16th, 2010 at 1:04 pm

Cool app !
.. can i find the map of UAE? is it updated? .. and does the app provide a voice guide too during the trip or not?
March 16th, 2010 at 2:04 pm
Does this app support Ipod touch 3g?? Thanks
March 16th, 2010 at 2:26 pm
@TinManl: I work with TomTom on this and the only difference is the maps with the $49.99 version being US only
March 16th, 2010 at 2:35 pm
this app works better than i expected in the car (without the car kit). i just tried it yesterday and it works great
March 16th, 2010 at 3:05 pm
Is there a difference between the 49.99 one and 69.99 minus the (Canada). Alot of people are saying the cheaper version is missing things.
March 16th, 2010 at 3:07 pm
@HoboTrap: The TomTom app does NOT require wifi or data connectivity since the map is entirely loaded on the device. It functions of the GPS instead.
March 16th, 2010 at 3:21 pm
does the tomtom gps app use wifi?
or does it just use satelite
March 16th, 2010 at 3:24 pm
@shekharonmail2007
I work with TomTom, and this is not actually the case. Both the iPhone and iPod Car Kits do include a GPS chip in addition to a number of other features above what you mentioned. The iPhone 3G/3GS are the only devices with a built in chip, however, those also benefit form enhanced reception with the car kit.
2G iPhone and iPod Touch users will need the appropriate car kit in order for to get GPS reception.

There is a kit specifically for the iPod touch that does have a GPS chip.
